Handling of extra credit (including "at-home" version of the midterm)

There was a question as to why the extra credit was not taken into account in computing cumulatives.

My normal practice is to make cumulatives without extra credit, and use that to set grade thresholds.
The extra credit marks, including those from projects and at-home version of midterm, are then
appropriately weighted and considered to see if the student can cross a higher grade threshold.

Using extra credit in the original cumulatives will be, in my view, a bit of an oxymoronic thing.
