Extra credit points..

Folks
Some inquisitive souls reminded me that I didn't send the extra credit marks. Here are the cumulative weighted extra-credit points
(here is how weighting is done. If you got 10 extra points on an assignment whose regular maximum was 50, and the whole assignment is worth 7 points of your final grade, then you got (10/50)*7 extra points).

Grades posted & projects/homeworks available for pickup at the TA's desk

Folks

After much deliberation, including trips down to the advising office to dig out the grades I gave to the students who took this course the last time, extensive discussions with the TA, the oracle of Tempe, and assorted other minor and major Deities, I decided I reached the requisite level of enlightenment (and/or the can't care anymore nirvana) to post the  grades, and promptly hit post-to-sis.

The last homework and the project are available for pickup from the TA's desk.

It was nice teaching you and I hope you enjoyed the class tolerably well. Have a nice summer.

Almost final cumulatives...

Here are the almost final cumulatives. (Extrac credit points will be sent separately).

You can check to make sure that your marks are recorded correctly (and let me know if there are any problems).

Also, the two students who are at the top of CSE494 and CSE598 are welcome to send me suggestions as to what should be the
grade cutoffs and/or highest/lowest grades in the class (of course, there is no guarantee that I will follow their suggestions--but they
have earned the right to make suggestions ;-)

Here are a couple of notes. Final homework (sans the WWW paper)  was graded for 7 points just like other homeworks.
The WWW paper summary and class presentation was graded for 8 points (under the column FHW)
The participation was graded for 8 points.
For the WWW paper summary and class presentation, I first put letter grades and then converted them into points
(So the letter grades you see interspersed are *NOT* your course grades but are just for participation and presentation).

The % columns are essentially relative percentages, assuming that the top student in each group gets 100%

The presentation slides and audio from today are on the web..

Thanks for all your work.. I think I have a reasonable idea on what are the fads this year at WWW 2007.

Important: Getting your presentations to the class tomorrow

You have two options for bringing your presentations to the class tomorrow:

1. Send the presentation as an attachment to subbarao2z3@gmail.com (Notice it is 2z3  --you can also do it by just replying to this mail)
*do not send it to my asu address*

2. Bring it on a USB stick

*IN BOTH CASES, NAME THE FILE WITH YOUR LAST NAME*

Re: Homework 4: new problems added and socket closed. It will be due at the beginning of 5/8 meeting..

The question as stated is correct. It is not necessary that every paper I wrote is covered by at least one source..

Sir,

For Q5 , the question states about a record of 10 papers. However  , 9 papers have been given in the sources.
For performing calculations, which value do we need to consider as  the result of Q ??..  9 or 10

two slides added to the lecture notes today...

1. Added a slide at the beginning of the query processing part of today's lecture to explain the "Surfacing the deep web" idea I explained

2. Added a 4th big idea--to talk about adversarial nature of the web. Here is what it says:

Fwd: teaching evaluations

Folks

As per the mail below, I encourage you all to do the online course evaluation--apparently you have a little more than 24 hours left to complete them.

I would particularly encourage written comments as they help me figure out what worked
and what didn't.

As you probably already know, I won't see the comments until much after your grades have been submitted, so you can be (and are encouraged to be) candid.

As and when I do get the comments, I normally share them with the students who took the course (so there will be enough delayed reward in terms of satisfaction of prurient interests ;-)
